1986: the First Acura

The first Acura car was introduced on March 27, 1986, as Honda's new luxury brand. The brand was created with the aim of competing with other luxury brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The first model to be introduced under the Acura brand was the Legend, which was a premium luxury sedan.

The Acura Legend was designed to appeal to a more sophisticated and upscale demographic and was equipped with advanced technology and features. It was powered by a 2.5-liter V6 engine that produced 157 horsepower, and was paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The Legend also featured advanced safety features such as anti-lock brakes, airbags, and a traction control system.

In addition to its advanced technology and performance, the Legend was also known for its sleek and stylish design. The exterior featured a low, aerodynamic profile and clean lines, while the interior was spacious and luxurious, with high-quality materials and finishes.

The introduction of the Acura Legend was a turning point for Honda, as it marked the company's entry into the luxury car market. It quickly became a popular choice among luxury car buyers, and helped establish Acura as a brand known for quality and performance.

Since the launch of the Legend, Acura has introduced several other models, including the Integra, the NSX, and the MDX. Today, Acura is a well-respected brand known for its high-quality vehicles, advanced technology, and stylish design.
